In my mind strobes are far more easier to use and you get quick satisfaction when shooting in digital. You can use your flash meter or just bracket a few shots and look at them on the linked laptop or computer. Its actually very simple to do, and to make a exposure judgment. Stay away from over exposure unless that's what you are looking for. The sharpness depends on your lenses. I am from the old school so I tend to stay away from zooms because of the many optics in them and less sharpness. Now, many people tell me a zoom today is just as sharp as a prime and I am just not there yet. Maybe if you have the most expensive zoom, with a 1.4 or 2 f stop, multicoated glass and so on. I'm still a prime user, I use them for just about everything, although I do own a couple of zooms and rarely use them.
